At our fourteenth annual "Ideas and Actions" Forum, we will again recognize successful neighborhood improvement projects that have been completed throughout the year to preserve, protect and enhance the scenic beauty of Jacksonville.  The awards that will be presented to the individuals for the most outstanding projects completed, will be given out by City Council President, The Honorable Daniel Davis 

In the past years, the "Ideas and Actions" Forum brought community visionaries from across the nation to Jacksonville to speak on issues related to community improvement strategies. These keynote speakers present not just concepts, but practical solutions to help make our city more livable and vibrant.  Past speakers include new urbanist Andres Duany, author James Kunstler, and high-profile mayors such as Nancy Graham of West Palm Beach, Glenda Hood of Orlando, Bill Hudnut of Indianapolis, John Norquist of Milwaukee, Joe Riley of Charleston, South Carolina, and Tom Murphy of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, among others. 

We are excited to announce the 2008 JaxPride Week and "Ideas and Actions" Forum

                                 GREEN NEIGHBORHOOD DESIGN.

Green Neighborhood Design integrates the principles of Smart Growth, New Urbanism, and Green Buildings.  This year we are adding the element of electronic audience polling devices to help create interaction between our audience and guest panelists.

The Forum will feature two panelists who bring their insight and expertise to this year's focus.  Shelley Lauten is the Lead Consultant/Director of myregion.org. This is a seven county initiative that brings business and government leaders along with citizens together to build a regional vision for Central Florida.  Our second panelist is Jennifer Languell, PhD, the Founder and President of Trifecta Construction Solutions.  Dr. Languell is a key leader in educating the development and construction industries and homebuyers about the benefits of Green Building.  Our moderator for this discussion is Brian Teeple, Chief Executive Officer of Northeast Florida Regional Council.
