~ Objectives ~
§ To increase public awareness of needs and opportunities that will improve our city's visual appearance.
§ To channel the community's demand for visual improvements into specific projects and programs, both public and private.
§ Advocate vigorous enforcement of ordinances pertaining to visual enhancement such as sign, property maintenance, and landscape ordinances.
§ Promote the connections between Urban Core revitalization and the vitality of the entire city.
§ Promote investment in the public realm.
~ Programs ~
I. General Advocacy- promotion and awareness of beautification through outreach to the media and community stakeholders.
II. Neighborhood Inventory of Visual Pollution (NIVP)- Assist grass roots organizations to identify areas of visual pollution and facilitate code enforcement.
III. Charrette Program- community design workshops.
IV. Advocacy of “Top Three Projects” List- Persistent promotion of three beautification projects. Advocacy is ongoing until projects are funded or completed.
