Regionalism:  Jacksonville as the region’s 800 lb GORILLA!

At our 15th annual Ideas and Actions Forum, JaxPride again recognized successful neighborhood improvement projects that have been completed throughout the year to preserve, protect and enhance the scenic beauty of Jacksonville.  Mayor John Peyton presented awards to the groups and individuals for the most outstanding projects over the past year. Click here for our 2009 JaxPride Week award winners.

Ideas and Actions Forums bring visionaries from across the nation to Jacksonville to speak on issues related to community improvement strategies. These keynote speakers present not just concepts, but practical solutions to help make our city more livable and vibrant.  Past speakers include new urbanist Andres Duany, author James Kunstler, and high-profile mayors such as Nancy Graham of West Palm Beach, Glenda Hood of Orlando, Bill Hudnut of Indianapolis, John Norquist of Milwaukee, Joe Riley of Charleston, and Tom Murphy of Pittsburgh, among others.
