Jacksonville as the region’s 800 lb GORILLA!
Ideas and Actions Forums bring visionaries from across the nation to Jacksonville to speak on issues related to community improvement strategies. These keynote speakers present not just concepts, but practical solutions to help make our city more livable and vibrant. Past speakers include new urbanist Andres Duany, author James Kunstler, and high-profile mayors such as Nancy Graham of West Palm Beach, Glenda Hood of Orlando, Bill Hudnut of Indianapolis, John Norquist of Milwaukee, Joe Riley of Charleston, and Tom Murphy of Pittsburgh, among others.

Mr. Pleasant shared the history and
overview of Charlotte’s rail initiatives and “holistic” approach to providing
land use and mobility planning for the City and region. Mayor Peyton
discussed the City’s role in the region as the First Coast embraces regional
cooperation and collaboration with Reality Check First Coast, a seven county
regional visioning exercise that took place in May 2009.
